2018-01-15 [Unbox Report] Turkish Airlines Miles&Smiles Baggage Tag & Membership Card Kit Set for 2018

The first post on this blog is an unbox report...
Received the  Baggage Tag & Membership Card Kit Set for 2018 from Turkish Airlines today. The design almost the same with the 2017 kit set (the upper one) but only the mirror printing.

Unbox the kit set (thank you ANA & CI help!), the contents are also the same, with a baggage tag and a membership card.

The only difference is on the printing, the expiry date was absent on the 2017 membership card and appeared on the 2018 membership card.

Although there were many reports about TK modified the elite status challenge policy internally that required to flown 15,000 elite status miles by TK metal instead of by Star Alliance flights to extend the elite status for 1 more year. Actually, I was only obtained 15,000 status miles from Star Alliance flights and only a few by TK operated flights.

It seems that TK finally honored my case or just applying the new policy to the new challenge only instead of amending the policy for those challenges approved by the old terms.

Anyway, thank you for the TK to extend my elite status to the end of 2018, and I could continue to enjoy the benefit of the Star Alliance Gold this year as a member of the TK*G and guaranteed the coming Star Alliance lounge access report this year when I take the *A flights.

In conclusion, it is no doubt that TK will keep tightening the status challenge requirements. The 15,000 TK metal for 1 year extension is a high threshold if you just take the  TK promotion Economy fare class ticket, or may be directly taking 35,000 status miles from Star Alliance flights at the first year of challenge to renew the status for 2 more years would be more effective if it is the case, but I was shorted with less 1000 miles last year, so that I could not provide it (LOL).
